چکیده
An accurate simulation and design was achieved with Computer-Aided-Engineering (CAE) of RF oscillators. Signal and phase noise modeling of all passiveand active components in the RF oscillator circuit is the prerequisite for accurate simulation. The design showed a very good agreement between simulated and measured data. The required modeling methods, the measurements, the used simulation technologies and the design steps are presented.

The Transient Behavior of LC and Ring Oscillators under External Frequency Injection
In this work, time domain analysis is used to solve Adler’s equation in order to obtain the required time, for an oscillator under external injection, reaching the steady-state condition. Mathematical approach has been applied to fully describe the transient of frequency acquisition in injection-locked LC and Ring oscillators considering their time-varying nature. Then, the analysis is verifie...
متن کاملDesign and simulation of a RF MEMS shunt capacitive switch with low actuation voltage, low loss and high isolation
According to contact type, RF MEMS switches are generally classified into two categories: Capacitive switches and Metal-to-Metal ones. The capacitive switches are capable to tolerate a higher frequency range and more power than M-to-M switches. This paper presents a cantilever shunt capacitive RF MEMS switch with characteristics such as low trigger voltage, high capacitive ratio, short switchin...
متن کاملSimulation of Coupled Oscillators Using Nonlinear Phase Macromodels and Model Order Reduction
Oscillators are used in many integrated RF circuits. Since their behavior is highly nonlinear, full system simulation can be expensive. Furthermore, the behavior of an oscillator can be (un)intendedly perturbed by that of other components and oscillators. We apply a method to build nonlinear phase macromodels of voltage controlled oscillators and show how these can be used to predict the behavi...
متن کاملDesign and Test of New Robust QCA Sequential Circuits
One of the several promising new technologies for computing at nano-scale is quantum-dot cellular automata (QCA). In this paper, new designs for different QCA sequential circuits are presented. Using an efficient QCA D flip-flop (DFF) architecture, a 5-bit counter, a novel single edge generator (SEG) and a divide-by-2 counter are implemented. Also, some types of oscillators, a new edge-t...
متن کاملPhysics-Based Simulation Techniques for Small- and Large-Signal Device Noise Analysis in RF Applications
The paper presents a review on physics-based noise simulation techniques for RF semiconductor devices, starting with the small-signal case but with greater stress on noise in largesignal (quasi)-periodic operation. The nonautonomous (forced) operation case will be considered, which is relevant to all RF applications apart from oscillators. Besides their importance in device design, physics-base...
